The Achterhoek region is known for its beautiful bocage landscape. De Roode Leeuw is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside by bike or on foot. Simply store your bike in our secure bicycle shed and head out whenever you like.

There is a lot to see and do along the way: castles and old country houses, historic towns such as Bronckhorst – the smallest town in the Netherlands, various vineyards and wine farms and museums.

Group arrangements

We're happy to create a special group package for a memorable stay. Whether it's a golf package, go-karting, mining for gold in the Winterswijk quarry, a farmer's survival activity, or an afternoon of playing Jack-in-the-Box for our younger guests, the possibilities are endless.
